Government Departments and Services

Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) - FaHCSIA is the Australian Government's main source of advice on social policy. FaHCSIA works in partnership with other government and non-government organisations managing a diverse range of programs and services designed to support and improve the lives of Australians.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR)  - DEEWR is the lead government agency providing national leadership in education and workplace training, transition to work and conditions and values in the workplace.

Department of Human Services (DHS)  - DHS offers a range of health, social and income support payments.

DHS offers a range of health, social and welfare payments.
Programs overseen by DHS include:

Medicare program which looks after the health of Australians through the efficient delivery of programs such as the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register and the Australian Organ Donor Register.

Centrelink program which delivers a range of payments and services for retirees, the unemployed, families, carers, parents, people with disabilities, Indigenous Australians, and people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and provides services at times of major change.
